About

A small app for one annoying problem.

Plug a monitor into a Mac and the brightness keys stop at the laptop’s own screen. The external display stays at whatever level it shipped with, unless you reach around the back and fight its on-screen menu.

MyMonitor talks to the monitor the same way its buttons do. You get a slider for each display in the menu bar, the brightness keys work again, and displays that can’t take hardware commands are dimmed in software instead.

Who makes it

I’m Kartik Kabadi, and I build MyMonitor on my own. It costs $9 once, after a 1-day free trial. No subscription, no ads, no tracking. I also make LoginToggle.

Requirements

macOS 14 Sonoma or later on an Apple silicon Mac.
